Turning Costs into Revenue A new service has been designed to turn costs associated with postage and fulfilment of essential mail into revenue. AMMX has been established to facilitate this exchange between mail issuers and advertisers. Companies issuing regular bills and statements to their customers can recover some or all of their postage and fulfilment costs by selling their surplus envelope space to other companies who may be interested in advertising to these same customers. In 90% of cases, issuers are paying for envelope weight and space which they do not utilise. Through AMMX advertisers can negotiate to include an insert in these envelopes and pay the issuer a fee for doing so. The benefit to the issuer is that they can recover some or all of the postage and fulfilment costs. The

benefit to the advertiser is that their direct marketing communications are distributed with personally addressed essential mail, so they have a far greater chance of being opened and read. In addition, they save on some of the traditional costs associated with direct marketing such as sourcing mailing lists, fulfilment and postage.
